What is Life Coaching?

As a Life Coach with a background in population and behavioral science, Kenlie uses her skills and expertise to help clients identify negative behaviors, create a plan for change, and work toward success in those areas. She works with clients to set achievable goals, develop strategies for behavior modification, and provide ongoing support and accountability to empower clients to achieve their desired outcomes.

How does certification work?

Kenlie is a Population Scientist and Certified Life Coach, who works at the intersection of Lifestyle Planning and Behavior Behavior Modification. Certification for life coaches typically involves completing a formal training program or course that meets the standards of a recognized coaching organization or governing body. In addition to coaching certification, Kenlie also holds advanced degrees, including a Master of Public Health, focusing on health education and communication in global and community behavioral sciences, which allows her to support her clients with increased depth and understanding.

What makes Kenlie different than a typical coach?

In the same way that people have different personalities, backgrounds, and preferences, coaches have different styles that are informed by their education, knowledge, and personal lived experiences. In addition to being a highly skilled population scientist with a decade of experience investigating the cognitive, social, and environmental factors and barriers that influence health and lifestyle outcomes, Kenlie has also benefitted from coaching. She can empathize with her clients while offering them practical, proven pathways to success.

What areas can a Life Coach help with?

Kenlie’s work is unique because she uses her expertise in population and behavioral sciences to help clients achieve success by identifying specific behaviors that the individual wants to change, supporting them in setting achievable goals, and developing a plan to reach those goals. Kenlie uses various scientific theories and frameworks to help individuals craft personalized goals and build habits to achieve them, challenge unhealthy beliefs about themselves, their lives, etc., and/or modify their behavior. How does coaching differ from therapy?

While therapy focuses on addressing and resolving underlying emotional and psychological issues, coaching focuses primarily on modifying specific behaviors and developing a strategy to pursue the individual’s desired lifestyle.

Another key difference is that therapy and counseling typically provide a mental health diagnosis, whereas success coaching does not. Additionally, therapy and counseling are often conducted by licensed mental health professionals, coaching can be provided by coaches with a variety of backgrounds and training.

Overall, therapy tends to be more appropriate for individuals dealing with significant emotional or psychological issues, while coaching is more suitable for individuals who want to modify specific behaviors or habits to achieve specific goals.

How long does coaching typically last?

The duration of life coaching varies depending on the needs and goals of the client. It can range from a few weeks to several months or even longer. The frequency and duration of coaching sessions are typically determined in consultation with the client and the coach. Sessions are typically 45 minutes to 75 minutes depending on the nature of the session.

How much does certified life coaching cost?

The cost of certified life coaching sessions varies depending on factors such as the credentials and experience of the coach, location, and length of the coaching engagement. Some coaches charge per session, while others offer package deals. Here’s we do both. It's important to discuss the fees and payment structure with the coach upfront to determine whether it’s an investment you are ready to make.

Here, we charge an hourly rate of $125, with significant discounts available to clients who purchase session packages. We also offer coupons because we believe coaching can be beneficial to all individuals, so please contact us if you think you may qualify for a reduced fee. We’ll probably agree!

What can I expect during a Life Coaching session?

During a session with Kenlie, you can expect to converse about your desires, goals, behaviors, challenges, and progress. She will use various coaching techniques, scientific methods, and tools to help you gain clarity, set action steps, and develop strategies to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.

Is life coaching confidential?

Yes, all coaching sessions are confidential. Coaches are bound by a code of ethics that includes maintaining client confidentiality unless there is a legal requirement to disclose information or the client provides explicit consent for sharing information.

Where did Kenlie earn her coaching certification? Kenlie earned her coaching certification through the International Christian Coaching Institute (ICCI). She chose ICCI because while her background is in public health and population sciences equips her to serve clients from a variety of backgrounds, her faith informs her coaching work. She continues to grow in knowledge as she pursues a doctorate in Public Health in Leadership, Advocacy, and Equity at Tulane University.

Do I have to be a Christian to be a client? No. While Kenlie’s faith informs her work, it is our goal to create a space and welcoming space for all people to experience growth and personal development.
